The Founder and Patron establishes the organization's foundational structures, provides visionary leadership, and offers ongoing guidance and financial support to ensure continuity and the successful achievement of the organization's mission.
George Nyamangorora Marucha is a respected leader within the Kenyan community in New Jersey & USA, widely recognized for his lifelong commitment to community service and development. Deeply rooted in his upbringing in a rural African village, George understands the transformative power of community organization and collective responsibility in advancing social and economic mobility for underserved populations.
Guided by his faith and a strong belief that love is expressed through service, George is committed to improving the social, educational, financial, and economic well-being of his community. He views community service not as an obligation, but as a lifelong calling.
George is the Founder and President of the Rubonama Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in honor of the late Ruth Bonareri Nyamangorora Marucha (RUBONAMA). The foundation focuses on empowering underprivileged students in Kenya through its “Give Them a Chance” scholarship program, enabling access to education and fostering productive, self-sustaining citizens.
He also serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Kenya Catholic Community in America (KCCA), a nonprofit organization, that he was also the founding member, dedicated to addressing the spiritual and socio-economic needs of its members through collaboration with local, national, and international Catholic institutions and partners.
Affectionately known in the community as “Chairman,” George is admired for his humility, collaborative leadership style, and ability to mobilize and organize community initiatives that address critical issues facing the Kenyan diaspora.
Professionally, George is a retired Controller from Ware Industries, Inc., a steel manufacturing company based in South Plainfield, New Jersey. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (USA).
The Chairman of the Board leads the Board of Directors in the governance and strategic oversight of the organization, ensuring effective leadership and the achievement of its goals.
Dr. Tammoima’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities for underserved children lies at the heart of his work with the Rubonama Foundation. As a founding member and Chairperson of the Rubonama Foundation Board, he plays a key role in guiding the organization’s vision and advancing its efforts to support poor and vulnerable children through education. His leadership reflects a deep personal belief that education has the power to transform lives and strengthen communities.
This commitment was shaped early in his life growing up in Kenya. Raised by parents who were both educators, Dr. Tammoima was immersed in the values of learning, service, and community responsibility. These early influences inspired his passion for helping others and motivated him to become actively involved in establishing the Rubonama Foundation as a platform for expanding educational opportunities for disadvantaged children.
As Board Chairperson, Dr. Tammoima brings enthusiasm, vision, and a strong sense of purpose to advancing the foundation’s mission. His dedication helps guide the organization’s strategy and initiatives aimed at improving access to education for children in need.
Dr. Tammoima holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and an MBA in Finance. He works as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital and has also demonstrated strong entrepreneurial and leadership abilities by operating his own mental health and medical weight loss clinic. His professional experience in healthcare, combined with his business acumen and leadership skills, strengthens his ability to support and guide the foundation’s work.
In his spare time, Dr. Tammoima enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking with his family.

A Director of Development / Fundraising is responsible for planning and leading efforts to raise money and resources that support an organization’s mission. This role focuses on building relationships with donors and creating strategies to generate sustainable funding. i.e Plan and manage events such as galas, charity drives, and online campaigns.
Darlene Ikumu has been volunteering as the fundraising lead for over 10 years. As a passionate advocate for education for underserved communities, she brings a unique blend of strategic vision and relationship-building to the Rubonama team. Darlene is always eager to connect with others and share more about the impactful work of the Rubonama Educational Foundation.
The Treasurer oversees the financial health of the organization and ensures responsible stewardship of funds. This includes:
Erastus is an accomplished accounting professional who supports organizations through periods of growth and change. With a proven track record in financial management, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance His expertise spans financial reporting, audit preparation, cost analysis, and process optimization. Erastus is recognized for his leadership, precision, and ability to translate financial data into actionable strategy.
Darlene Ikumu has been volunteering as the fundraising lead for over 10 years. As a passionate advocate for education for underserved communities, she brings a unique blend of strategic vision and relationship-building to the Rubonama team. Darlene is always eager to connect with others and share more about the impactful work of the Rubonama Educational Foundation.
Darlene joined the Rubonama Educational Foundation because she strongly believes that education opens many doors and provides individuals with greater opportunities and choices in life.
Outside of her volunteer work, Darlene enjoys basketball, skating, and watching movies.
Professionally, Darlene has worked in the Information Technology field for the past 26 years and currently serves as a Senior IT Systems Administrator.
The Director of the Scholarship Committee provides leadership and oversight for the organization's scholarship programs, ensuring they align with the nonprofit's mission and goals to expand access to education.
Dr. Peter Mose is a board-certified physician associate practicing in emergency medicine and psychiatry in the Atlanta area. He holds a Doctorate in Medical Sciences with a specialty in psychiatry and is deeply committed to healthcare advocacy and education.
Dr. Mose has served on the executive board of the RUBONAMA Educational Foundation since its inception and is also an executive board member of the Mobile Mission for Haiti (MM4H). His work reflects a strong dedication to improving access to healthcare and educational opportunities for underserved communities.
A native of Kenya who grew up in a resource-deprived community, Dr. Mose has firsthand experience with the challenges of overcoming poverty. He understands the transformative power of education in advancing both individual lives and entire communities. This perspective strongly aligns with and fuels his support for the RUBONAMA mission of providing educational resources to disadvantaged students.
